5. Adverb
by Syamsul Maarif, SS Adverb is a word that adds more information about place, time, circumstance, manner, cause, degree, etc. to a verb, an adjective, a phrase or another adverb. There are three kinds of adverbs among them simple, interrogative, and relative adverbs. A simple adverb has five kinds: - Adverb of time Examples: yesterday, now, today, tonight, tomorrow, etc. - Adverb of place Examples: here, there, somewhere, anywhere, in the…, etc. - Adverb of manner Examples: well, slowly, hard, fast, etc. - Adverb of frequency Examples: always, sometimes, often, almost, still, etc. - Adverb of reason Example: because of, therefore, thus, etc. An Interrogative adverb expresses time, place, manner, frequency, and reason. - time : when did you arrive here? - place : where have you been? - manner : How do you come here? - frequency : how is this tea? - Reason : why do you study English?
